Tofu burger

Yummy grilled tofu burgers, marinated in a sesame soy sauce, topped with a bright and crunchy pickled slaw.
This simple and easy burger recipe makes a great vegan alternative to a traditional beef burger. Packed full of flavour, with a satisfying bite and a rich, delicious centre!

Ingredients

Burger Patty:

  • 150 g Extra firm/firm tofu drained and dried
  • 3 tbsp Dark soy
  • 1 tbsp Sesame oil
  • 1 tsp Black pepper
  • Salt to taste

Burger Sauce:

  • 2 tbsp Vegan Mayo
  • ½ tbsp Sriracha

Slaw:

  • 30 g Lettuce Shredded
  • 30 g Carrot Shredded
  • 1 tsp vinegar
  • Pinch of salt

Other:

  • Burger buns

Instructions

Burger Patty:

  • Cut the tofu block in half and then cut out a circle using a cookie cutter. (Cut into squares if tofu is a different size)
  • Combine dark soy, sesame oil, black pepper and salt.
  • Marinate tofu in 2/3 of the sauce for a minimum of 10 mins.
  • Heat up a griddle/frying pan till very hot.
  • Place marinated tofu pieces on a pan and cook for 2 minutes on each side. Brush cooked sides with remaining sauce.

Sauce:

  • Combine sriracha and vegan mayo in a bowl to form burger sauce, and leave aside.

Coleslaw:

  • Combine lettuce and carrots in a bowl with vinegar and leave aside.
  • Assemble burger with lettuce, carrot, burger sauce and tofu patty. Enjoy 🙂
